How to use the Qaza Namaz calculator

Choose By dates and enter the date your prayers became obligatory or started being missed (for many people, the age of puberty) and the date you began praying regularly. If you do not remember exact dates, choose By years and give your best honest estimate. Optionally subtract days you know you prayed, and sisters may subtract the days of menstruation and post-natal bleeding, because no qaza is owed for prayers in those days. Tick Witr if you follow the Hanafi school, where witr is wajib and is made up.

The calculator shows how many of each prayer you owe — Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha and Witr — and the total. It also suggests a daily plan. Press Save to my tracker and then tap +1 after each qaza you pray to watch your progress grow. Everything is stored only in your browser.

Qaza sirf farz (aur Hanafi mein witr) ki hoti hai, sunnat ki nahi. Jab yaad aaye tab padh lein — der na karein.

The rule on making up missed prayers

The Prophet ﷺ said: "If anyone forgets a prayer he should pray that prayer when he remembers it. There is no expiation except to pray the same" (Sahih al-Bukhari 597). When the Companions missed prayers on the day of the Trench, the Prophet ﷺ prayed them afterwards (Sahih al-Bukhari 596). The majority of scholars, including the four schools of fiqh, hold that missed obligatory prayers must be made up, whether missed by oversleeping, forgetting or negligence, together with sincere tawbah for any deliberate neglect.

A woman does not make up the prayers of her menstrual days: when a woman asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) about this, she said that when any of them had her menses in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, she was not required to make up those prayers (Sahih Muslim 335).

A realistic daily plan

One easy method is to pray one qaza with each of the five daily prayers — that clears one full day of missed prayers every day. If you can do two or three "days" daily, the total time drops sharply; the plan below your result shows exactly how long each option takes. Consistency matters more than speed: the Prophet ﷺ said, "The most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant, even if it is little" (Sahih al-Bukhari 6464).

Important: This tool gives general guidance. Har shakhs ka maamla alag ho sakta hai — apne personal case ke liye kisi mustanad local aalim ya mufti se zaroor mashwara karein.

FAQ / Aksar pooche jaane wale sawal

How many qaza prayers do I owe per day missed?

Five fard prayers per day (Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha), plus Witr in the Hanafi school — so 5 or 6 per day. Sunnah prayers are not made up as qaza.

I don't remember exactly how many years I missed. What should I do?

Make an honest estimate on the higher side so you are sure you have covered everything, then use the By years option. Ask your local scholar about your situation.

Do women make up prayers missed during menstruation?

No. Aisha (RA) said that women in the Prophet's ﷺ time were not required to make up prayers missed during menses (Sahih Muslim 335). Subtract those days in the optional field.

Can I pray qaza at any time?

Yes, generally at any time, but avoid the times when prayer is disliked: at sunrise, at the sun's zenith and at sunset. Many people pray one qaza with each daily prayer.
